After a few days deliberating, we have decided to call him Evan Mark Hughes. (yes there is some welsh family on Duncan's side). We are all doing well and enjoying having a new baby in the house again. He has been very good, apart from a bit of wind now and then. My milk supply is so forthcoming it is causing him to gulp down too much air! Megan is loving having a new brother but can be a bit heavy handed with him now and then!
If you are interested in hearing about my short labour then read on! At about 7.30pm on Halloween I was reading Megan a bedtime story and was getting the odd twinge. By 8pm she was asleep and I new that the baby was on its way so I got the tens machine on and sat on the fitball! Then I got Duncan to get all the bags together and tried to take my mind off it by watching some football! Within an hour the contractions were 5mins apart so we decided to go to the hospital. We had to drop Megan off at Mum's on the way because Mum had gone dancing with the car and without her mobile! By the time we got to the hospital they were coming every few minutes. Luckily the hospital was quiet so we got a home from home room but the midwife didn't seem to be in any hurry because my waters hadn't broken! So by the time she'd faffed around a bit the contractions were coming once or twice a minute. She got me on to the bed to check how far dilated I was and said that I could start pushing now! So I did, and in two pushes he was out!! It sounds easy, but the pain was intense! I did get some gas and air but not a lot!
He fed for quite a while afterwards then we got our tea and toast but no jam! Disappointing!
Evan had lots of dark hair and looked a lot like Megan did when she was born. He is gorgeous! And I was right about him being a boy!
